Key Business Advisors’ Melbourne-based HR team members have spent two days maximising the professional development opportunities provided by the annual Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) National Convention as well as a seminar by Hall & Wilcox Lawyers.
As HR Professionals, minimising risk to our client’s business is very important to us. At last week’s annual AHRI conference, we met like-minded HR professionals who were willing to share their knowledge and expertise with us, whether at their booths or in seminars.
The seminars we attended at the AHRI Convention focused on topics such as “The Implications of the Fair Work Act 2009 for Small Business” and “Re-think Recruiting: Modernising your talent acquisition strategies.” These seminars equipped us with greater knowledge that we can now use and adapt to suit the needs of our clients.
Also last week, we attended a discussion hosted by Hall & Wilcox’s Employment team. The discussion focused on how businesses can protect themselves from sexual harassment and discrimination claims. Alison Baker and Kerryn Tredwell, experienced lawyers and Partners in Hall & Wilcox’s Employment team, shared their knowledge of recent cases and gave handy tips on how to respond to employee complaints.
All in all, a great two days spent learning and developing our knowledge and skills to better assist our clients!
