Following the 2017 Annual Wage Review, the Fair Work Commission has announced:
- A 3.3% increase to minimum wages
- The increase will apply to base rates of pay from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2017
- The new national minimum wage will be $694.90 per week or $18.29 per hour
Who does the increase apply to?
The increase applies to employees that get their pay rates from the national minimum wage, a modern award or in some cases a registered agreement.
The national minimum wage applies to employees who arenโt covered by an award or agreement.
Most employees are covered by an award. Award rates will increase by 3.3%. If you are not sure which award applies to your employees, please contact us.
If youโre covered by a registered agreement, you should check it to see whether this increase affects you.
The increase doesnโt affect employees who are already getting paid more than the new minimum wage.
